Extension of Unpaid Leave and Termination Ban

In the statement made by the President of the Republic, it was stated that the period of unpaid leave and termination ban was extended until 30.06.2021 and the decision was published in the Official Gazette on 30.04.2021. 

 

According to the decision published on the matter in the Official Gazette, below provisions which were supposed to expire on 17.05.2021 were extended until 30.06.2021;

 

Any employment or service agreement shall not be terminated by the employer except for situations and similar reasons that do not comply with the rules of ethics and goodwill included in the subparagraph (II) of the first paragraph of Article 25 and the relevant provisions of other laws, expiration of fixed-term employment or service contracts, closure of the workplace for any reason and the termination of its activities for three months from the effective date of this article.

“The employer may send the employee on unpaid leave wholly or partially for a period not exceeding three months from the date of entry into force of this article. "
